a highly skilled, enthusiastic team. As a small multi-skilled
organisation, our staff often wear many hats; but are listed according
to their primary area of expertise.
Barbara Crook
Barbara has broad experience gained in various senior executive roles, including CEO, Hunt & Hunt; Executive General Manager Operations, Allens Arthur Robinson; and General Manager, Operations, Smorgon Arc. She has also worked for Australian Defence Industries, Country Road, Morgan & Banks and Uncle Ben’s of Australia.In 1996 she completed an executive MBA from AGSM, University of NSW and prior to that obtained a Diploma and a Bachelor of Education as well as post-graduate studies in Computer Science.
Barbara is a member of three boards; Advisory Board of Monash Institute of Medical Research, Foundation Board and Dean’s Advisory Board of Monash Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.
Technical Team
Roger Timms
Roger is the Head of Taxation and Superannuation.
Prior to joining Taxpayers Australia, Roger was the National Manager of the Webb Martin tax training business, responsible for the writing of all tax technical papers and delivering training sessions.
He has also written regular articles for Inside Tax and held the role of editor of the Lawyers Tax Manual.
Roger was a tax consulting partner at a Big 4 accounting practice servicing multi-national companies and also had responsibility for staff training.
Roger left public practice to carry out a series of tax assignments for a large commercial organisation, subsequently returning to practice as the partner in charge of tax for a Victorian second tier accounting practice.
Weiran Wang
Weiran has degrees in Accounting, as well as Media and Communications
and has previously worked for a Chartered Accounting firm.
Weiran is a tax specialist with a background in Chartered Accounting.
Weiran has a Bachelor of Commerce and and Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communication) and is currently completing his CPA.
Michael Perry
Michael's interests include superannuation and retirement planning.
For much of the previous decade he has run a consultancy assisting
clients with strategic wealth management and investment planning
matters.
He has provided services for superannuation and retirement income
modelling and brings a range of business skills gained through a number
of years of experience in various corporate roles.
Graeme Evans
Graeme is both a qualified accountant and financial planner and brings
to the Association a detailed knowledge in superannuation and related
matters.
Sally Carey
Sally is a taxation consultant with in excess of 13 years taxation experience at PricewaterhouseCoopers, advising a range of clients in various industries, including large multi-national corporations, small to medium enterprises, individuals and Government on all manner of taxes.
Sally has a Bachelor of Business (majoring in Accounting) and is a Chartered Accountant, having been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants for over a decade.
Andy Nguyen
Andy is a Tax Specialist with over eight years’ tax experience, specialising in corporate tax and fringe benefits tax. Prior to joining Taxpayers Australia, Andy developed his tax knowledge in the Big 4 and mid-tier chartered accounting firms. Andy has provided advice to a diverse client base ranging from individual taxpayers to listed companies.
Andy holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Monash University and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. He is also workshop leader for the CA Program’s Tax module and is on the exam marking panel.
Letty Tsoi
Letty is a Tax Specialist with over six years’ chartered accounting experience gained in several mid-tier chartered accounting firms and a Big 4 firm. She has worked with a broad range of clients in corporate tax, international tax and business advisory.
Letty is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has a Bachelor of Accounting (Honours) from Monash University (Clayton).
She is currently undertaking a Master of Tax degree at the University of Melbourne.
Publishing, Marketing and Sales Team
Berith Ostrom
Berith is our Head of Marketing & Publishing and is responsible for all marketing, sales and publishing activities of the Association.
Berith has held various managerial positions in large corporations such as
Thomson, Rural Press and Anstat, and has also worked for publishing
companies such as Wilkinson Publishing, Edsoft and Coretext.
Leonnie Gleeson
Leonnie is responsible for the desktopping and production of the Association's publications and ensures all publications are dispatched to members on time. She also looks after the Tax e-news and Super e-news ensuring the smooth processing and dispatch of these free communications.
Daniel Cuturilo
Over the past twenty years Daniel has consulted in the field of business development within the commercial finance and international trade sectors.
He has an expert knowledge of relationship building, negotiation, sales and marketing within the SME sector.
Prue Vincent
Prue is our Web Content Producer. She is a qualified journalist who has worked in online, print and broadcast media in Australia and abroad.
She worked for several years in London for British and European media organisations including The Press Association and News International, providing content and assisting with the launch of online products.
Steve Burnham
Steve's decades of experience working for mainstream media includes positions at major metropolitan newspapers and specialised business magazines as well as with investment and financial publications and feature contributions to international magazines.
A broadening into online media with a small business website preceded his joining Taxpayers Australia in the roles of content editing and business writer.
Justin Cohen
Justin brings to the business a unique blend of skills ranging from website and content management, a Journalism Diploma, seven years' experience in promotional development and management, as well as media campaign management.
He is responsible for our website, as well as a mix of marketing, communication and strategic activities.
Membership Services Team
Sandra O'Hara
Sandra assists in the smooth running of the office, her main task
being the coordination of one of our Tax Discussion Group programmes as well as the Perth Quarterly Tax Update seminars. She also plays a vital role in dealing with administration and membership queries.
Ann Palmer
Ann is involved in the general office and is one of a team who answers members' telephone calls, deals with account
queries and processes membership payments. She deals with our external products, including Trust Deeds.
Margaret Bethel
Margaret is involved in the general office. She answers members' phone
calls and enquiries, processes membership payments and keeps members
details up to date. All orders for and renewals of our various products for both
Taxpayers Australia and DIY Superannuation are overseen by Margaret.
Jane Abbey
Jane answers members' phone calls and enquiries, processes membership payments and keeps member details up to date. She also deals with our external products, including Trust Deeds. Jane is also our main Seminar Program co-ordinator as well as responsible for the Tax Discussion Group conducted by Roger Timms, our national Technical Manager.
Administration Team
Andrew Kendt CPA
Andrew is Head of Finance for the Association. He produces all the Association's financial reports and maintains our membership database.
Carolyn Holmes
Carolyn handles all our invoicing and bill payments as well as a myriad of other tasks that keep the office running smoothly.
Jan Richards
Jan Richards is Assistant to the National Board of Taxpayers Australia
and its subcommittees. She also coordinates the Association's Annual Conference and the tertiary institution academic prize program.
