It was recently reported that a major clearing house for superannuation payments in Australia has processed an unprecedented number of requests from Australians opting out of their ‘default super fund' in the past 12 months. These requests are up 81 per cent compared to the previous year. According to the clearing house, this shows more people are taking advantage of the ‘choice of fund' legislation introduced three years ago.

The Superannuation Consultative Committee (SCC) is chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Superannuation, Mr Neil Olesen. Forum membership is comprised of representatives of the major accounting and superannuation organisations, representatives from the employer and business sectors and other government bodies operating in the superannuation sector.
The last meeting of the SCC meeting was held in Sydney on 20 August 2008. Taxpayers Australia was represented at that meeting by Michael Perry.
