Publication Overview
All practitioners providing a ‘tax service' or a ‘BAS service' will be subject to the new Tax Agent Services regime from 1 March 2010. It will inevitably change the way in which agents carry on their businesses.

Changes introduced by the new laws include a Code of Conduct which will govern the activities of both tax agents and BAS agents, and the introduction of ‘safe harbor provisions' which may enable taxpayers to avoid certain administrative penalties which would otherwise be payable under the tax laws.

In recognition of these historic changes, and as an aid to tax practitioners, Taxpayers Australia has produced a practical guide which outlines the new regime and provides tax and BAS agents with answers to the key questions they must address.

The Tax Agent Services Regime - What you need to know: A practical guide is available free of charge in electronic format to members, and if the printed version is preferred will cost $19.95 inc GST and p&h.

Non-members can also avail themselves of the publication at $39.95 inc GST and p&h - print version only.

All versions include a minimum of two updates.
